About

So what does “A Fine Dining Service in a Retail Environment” mean? At Johns Creek Wine & Crystal it means every customer should have their best retail experience EVER when they come to our shop. From greeting you upon arrival, to finding that hard to get wine you have been dying to try, to happily answering any question you might have….we will always have your best interest in mind when you walk into our Johns Creek store. This motto has many meanings for our team, but one that it doesn’t embrace is exorbitant pricing. Our shop will provide the best quality at every price range, whether it be a $7 bottle or a $500 bottle your looking for. It is our belief that an informed consumer is a loyal consumer, so we will make it our goal to educate our customers about the wines they are buying and why we chose them. Lastly we understand that wine is not served in a vacuum. In many, if not most cases it is served with food as an integral part of the meal. Our suggestions to customers will always be made with this in mind. Our staff has the knowledge, experience and training to help you grow your passion for all things wine. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Skip Williams is our wine director/consultant. He has been in the wine industry for over 20 years serving in virtually every aspect of the industry…except wine maker. His experiences include sommelier, wine buyer, wine director, professor, wine school director, broker consultant, educator, distributor consultant, restaurant manager/consultant, writer and avid consumer. As part of his wine education Skip has spent a lot of time in Europe with a focus on France. During his over 20 trips to Europe he has visited more than 400 different producers. The list of American wineries is similarly long.

On a personal level, Skip has lived in Atlanta since 1988. Currently he and his three Siberian Huskies reside in the Virginia-Highlands where he has lived since 1990. Skip is an avid sports fan, especially football. During his youth he was a competitive golfer who played to a plus two handicap. He is also a supporter of theater including sponsorship of “Theatre duReve”, the leading French language theater company in the United States. In addition to his love of wine, any short conversation will reveal his love of cuisine and its role in the enjoyment of wine.

David Metz – Some people have a leg up in the field of wine. David is one of those guys due to his parent’s keen interest. He got his start professionally when he joined the sales force of Quality distributors. Fortunately for us, his territory included Johns Creek and with that came a vast knowledge of what was desired in this amazing area of Georgia.

After gaining knowledge and experience on the distributor side David came to the realization that he had interest in wine far beyond what was found in the catalog of one distributor. The end result of which brought him to join the staff of one of Atlanta’s finest retailers. While there, he decided to enhance his knowledge through the Society of Wine Educators. With this organization he achieved the level of Certified Specialist of Wine. He has continued his education by completing the Introductory Court of Master Sommeliers Exam. Additionally, he just returned from his first tour of Burgundy where he visited a number of the finest producers.

After considering a number of other candidates, the team at Johns Creek Wine & Crystal came to the conclusion that David was the best possible person to manage the day to day operations of our shop. He brings a very solid background and great enthusiasm as well as a real enjoyment of interacting with customers. We know you will like him as much as we do.
